Venus: The Goddess of Love. Also known as: Asarte, Aphrodite, Oshun, Isis and many other names in different cultures.

Sun enters Libra September on September 22, 2010 at 8:28 PM, Pacific Daylight Time.

The pace of life will now gradually slow down a over the next 30 days. Autumn has begun. and the sun is now in the Cardinal sign of Libra. Libra is the third of four Cardinal signs that appear between Spring and the end of winter. Cardinal signs begin each season. Aries, begins spring, Cancer begins summer and Capricorn begins winter.

This is the time when we put the priorities of the summer behind us in preparation for the upcoming winter. This is considered the yin part of the cycle, dark, receptive, cool. This is opposite of the Yang aspect, warm, bright, creative.

The Goddess Venus/Aphrodite

There are two zodiac signs ruled over by the Goddess Venus/Aphrodite: Taurus (Feminine night, Fixed, Earth sign) and Libra (Masculine day, Cardinal, Air sign). The two Zodiac signs share the same day of “lady” luck and passion, Friday. Many Goddesses of Love are associated with Friday. It is also reinforced by the names given for Friday; Frigga (Norse/Teutonic), Viernes (Spanish), Venere (Italian), Vendredi/Vénus (French), Freitag (German) and many more. If you were to watch Venus closely you would see that sometimes she appears in the sky as a “morning star” and in the Evenings as an “Evening Star.” Since the planet Venus is the second closest planet to the sun, you can only see her clearly right around sunrise and sunset. Venus takes 226 earth days to complete a trip around the sun (Venus’ year) yet it takes Venus 243 earth days to turn once on her axis. So on Venus, a day is longer than a year. This is why all zodiac signs with Venus’ influence are great at Modeling. Sache! Sache!

Libra and the 7th House

Etymology: from L. libra, lit. “pound, balance,” from Mediterranean base *lithra- “a scale.”

Library (Knowledge)

Liberty (Freedom)

When the sun enters Libra you can expect to see an emphasis on partnerships of all types: work, school, friendships, romantic relationships. Since Libra rules the 7th house of the Zodiac AstroClock™, there is special emphasis placed on love relationships when checking a natal chart to see who a person is potentially compatible with. Libra is an Air sign, so communication is an essential part to how they create harmony. That is one of the main advantages to Libra leadership, fair and balanced interaction using the medium of communications and unity. In essence, Libra is a community builder extraordinaire.
