Sagittarius: The Archer

Sagittarius is considered "old fire" of the Tetrahedron Fire Sign Continuum. Chiron is the name of the Centaur to which this sign is named after. Chiron is the "Wounded Healer" and "THe Teacher of Heroes" in Mythology. He is said to have taught Asclepius (Imhotep), Castor and Pollux, Jason (of the Argonauts fame) and Achilles. Sagittarius is the 8th sign of the Zodiac and is ruled by the planet Jupiter.

Sagittarius Glyph

The sign Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Physically it is related to the pelvis, hips and thighs. It is said to have a masculine nature, and is therefore more active in its energy expression.

As a Fire sign, Sagittarius is connected with the identity, specifically with the search to find a deeper meaning in human existence. The eagle of Jupiter symbol represents the expansive qualities of Sagittarius because this zodiac sign likes life to be grand and free. Sagittarius is connected with religious and philosophical urges and spiritual development.

Sagittarius in characterized by a love of truth and righteousness, and an unfortunate tendency to express it rather too directly, even when not asked. (Read: They can often “dish it out, but can’t take it”).

There is a love of open horizons, freedom, travel and a need to expand on an inner intellectual level. There is a pronounced urge to rise above the animal nature towards the divine, and an impatience with the trivial issues in life.
