After a very active month of changes the New Moon in Taurus is on the horizon to help us ease our way into the cocoon of self-reflection of the Mercury Retrograde cycle.
Now I know that the shadow of this Mercury Retrograde cycle was supposed to start on May 4th, but I had the feeling of being in an exotic sports car with one foot down on the gas and the other on the brake while trying to drive with one arm. So I must conclude that I need to reset myself during this new moon cycle. One must consider being patient about the desires to which one attaches themselves. The pragmatic and empirical care must be used to plot out a realistic road map for meeting the goals and challenges that will gallop us up to the full moon in Sagittarius that we will be experiencing two-weeks from now.
This New Moon in Taurus has us in the middle of two loose trines. One trine is an Earth Trine and the other is a Fire Trine. The Earth Trine includes:
Lilith in Virgo
Sun and Moon in Taurus
and Pluto in Capricorn
With the Sun and the Moon lounging in the healthy and luxury laden sign of Taurus “the bull,” everyone is experiencing a slow down that may resemble a time warp from a science fiction movie. Last month’s new moon in Aries sparked up the motivation to get a lot done, but the air is heavy as if everyone is walking through the ocean of emotional waters brought on by the Scorpio Full Moon in early May. Since Pluto in Capricorn links the loose trine of the sun and the moon to Lilith in Virgo, there is a heavy, more sensual feeling in the air that could be more playful if we were not so caught up in seeing more immediate results from the goals that we set. This is a time to remind ourselves that when earth energy doesn’t get enough play, the emotional atmosphere becomes dense with tension of self-fulfilling prophecy. So pay more attention to your sensual urges over your egos need for outcomes that are gratifying to your immediate sense of productivity.
Why would this be a challenge?
The loose Fire Trine links Juno and Jupiter in Leo to
Uranus, Eris and the South Node in Aries to Saturn, Pallas Athene and Chariklo in Sagittarius. The heavenly yang energy of the active fire element quickly turns our relaxing, deep cleansing Earth breaths into short, shallow breaths of excitement and anticipation. Excitement and anticipation that easily makes the word “patience” seem like a four-letter word being shrieked through loudspeakers at your grandparent’s church as someone runs their nails down a chalkboard just for shits and giggles.
As the earth sign energy of this New Moon supports long-term progress, its sexier more playful elements can only be accessed if you relax your traditional ideas of progress and challenge yourself with the more fluidly flexible approaches inspired by Saturn in Sagittarius. Arie’s “daredevil,” approach might make you feel less secure and comfortable in your pursuits. Have the courage to jump into projects and you will be reminded about your cat-like reflexes and how well your dynamic improvisational moves will serve you when you trust yourself and the skills you have developed through meeting challenges of the past.
Don’t worry about recovery or even death. The energy coursing through the fire signs is *overcharging* you to the point that you can probably jump-start a monster truck by simply sticking your tongue on the battery.
What’s making me so hesitant?
Mars has moved into Gemini. As Mars travels through Gemini it will oppose Saturn, Pholus and Pallas Athene in Sagittarius bringing up the lovely since of “Hurry Up And Wait,” feeling that we all love so much. For you people who read the Tarot, look at it as only pulling the hangman card everyday for a year. The feelings of suspension, letting go, detachment and suspension will all be playing out in your love-life and in your career.
With Mercury stationing retrograde, all feelings of selfishness, pain, materialism and general lack of perspective may become exaggerated unless you gracefully accept that you may need to invest more time and patience into life than you had previously planned.
Beyond the usual expect to do things up to three times during Mercury retrograde, be aware of turning points as Mars reaches the last decan of Gemini. Mars will oppose and activate Pallas Athene and Pholus. While Pholus represents turning points in career and sex life, The goddess of wisdom and war, Athene, may signal that “the rules” of all proverbial game(s) may suddenly change, regardless of how prepared you think you are.
Mars may be in the airy sign of Gemini, but remember that Mars is still a fire planet and it is still linked to, and subjected to the “sudden” and “unexpected” changes of the cosmic shock jock , Uranus, “The Awakener.”
Of course there is also the matter of Algol, an eclipsing binary star sitting at the head of Taurus that is supposed to have a malevolent influence, but given the idea that it is at 26º Taurus(right at the New Moon in Taurus), it is more likely to be of a transpersonal nature. In other words, if something bad happens it would be on a global scale, it is less likely to be personal. This decan in the triplicity of earth is Saturn and Capricorn so expect there to be some structural issues with authority and the great disfunction currently taking place in all of our nation states. Yes, humanity is ready to get rid of the nasty “leaders” and empower citizens.
Algol represents Medusa, but this is the patriarchal notion that a Priestess of Athene (27º Sagittarius) is raped by Poseidon and then punished for it by being transformed into a gorgon. (Hay Pallas, way to help a “sistah” out!—NOT!) I encourage you to look at *Eris in Aries and imagine what it would be like if the snubbed energy of Medusa takes a page from Athene’s book of war and wisdom by exacting of Eris’ “golden apple” revenge over a long period of time? Consider the strength that a mother gets from
adrenalin through fear and imagine throwing a car off of your child or small pet with the ease of skipping a stone on a lake. Sometimes bad omens can give us strength and confidence with the right attitude. Think Positive!
Venus is in Cancer so remember to make all decisions from your heart, not your head. This is opposing the Pluto in Capricorn power structure of logic, but stay with the intuitive, powerhouse ruler of the heart chakra, Venus. This will go along with what is happening with all of the creative fire pumping through your spirit. This is a time of banishing of toxic fears to make way for seeds of auspiciousness that will grow into tangible projects of co-creation between you and the cosmos. Make plans, but don’t be afraid to dance with your plans if they grow legs. Be flexible. Aim high,
but be prepared to be an action hero as you will be going through the trials and tribulations of a wounded healer as this new moon will culminate into the full moon in Sagittarius.
This is the best of grounding earth energy that will regenerate and evolve old ideas that transcend old meaning with unforeseeable pinball-like fiery change and creativity coming straight from the heart. I encourage you to read about the brain within the heart from the institute of Heart Math. We may not understand the heart as much as we understand the brain, but the symbiont relationship suggest that the heart is where the rubber hits the road. This New Moon In Taurus with Mercury Retrograde flavor gives the upcoming Sagittarius moon the activity necessary to turn us all into our own personal gladiators and saviors. Remember that Mercury Retrograde is not a curse, it is a time for self-reflection and subsequent growth. When you emerge from your chrysalis, you will fly higher and shine brighter!
Prepare to qualify!
