The Sagittarius symbol represents the bow and arrow of the archer. It represents the ever-expanding high aim of the spirit of humanity. This arrow belongs to Chiron, the teacher of heroes also known as “the wounded healer.” Like Scorpio, Sagittarius is considered a healer because of their association with Asclepius or Imhotep. Generally Asclepius and Imhotep are identified with the constellation Ophiuchus, whose foot is right between Scorpius and Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is the planet Jupiter which is the fifth planet from the sun. Jupiter is a gas giant with more than 63 moons. SAGITTARIUS MYTH

Sagittarius originally went by the name of Chiron. Instead of being just “The Archer,” Chiron was also known as the “wounded healer” and the “teacher of heroes.” He was mortally wounded by one of the arrows that Hercules dipped in the poisonous and fatal blood of the Lernaean Hydra. Since Chiron was an immortal, he suffered profoundly but could not die. Hercules strikes a deal with Zeus to have Prometheus released from being chained to a rock for giving fire to humans and in exchange for the sacrifice of Chiron’s life. Since Chiron was the teacher of such heroes as Achilles, Jason of Argos and the Gemini twins, he was placed among the stars.
